I recently looked up from my desk and saw nature that made me think and wish that other would enjoy bodybuilding as much as I did when Arnold used to talk about the "pump." He said he could not chose which felt better-the "pump" or an orgasm. He was speaking metaphorically. fools thought he was actually talking about sex! Arnold's message demonstates that the true essence of bodybuilding is unlimited.
Real bodybuilders train and eat right all year because it is a lifestyle-not a trophy or status symbol. Bodybuilding is about spirituality, mental health and disease prevention not illness, organ failure and death. Unfortunately those who focus on the competition are not reaping the benefits of bodybuilding as a whole. Focusing on the competition is like having sex with a partner you are in lust with rather than a partner you are in lust and love with. It is limiting the experience to the physical realm.
As many of you attend the Arnold Classic this weekend to celebrate, network and socialize, do not forget our fallen friends. Remember those who went before us due to organ failure and those who are struggling to go to the bathroom with tubes in their stomach. These people were offered wealth and fame by organised con artists and they paid the ultimate price. Loved ones were left behind to pick up the pieces and pay their bills while the con men clawed into their grave for more. The dead are exploited with T-shirts and memorabilia without any of the proceeds going to their families. Shame on our sport. It is sad that a spiritual sport with such potential has been reduced to the Westminster Dog Show.
So please take a moment this weekend to remember those who were fed false promises and pray for those who continue to flock together in search of validation; in search of their Mother's breast in all the wrong places only to be snapped up in the jaws of an alligator. Even wilderbeasts and zebras know to beware.
Where are the saints while the wickeds are having their ways.
